Good MorningEquities fell on Thursday in response to rocketing interest rate expectations. The NASDAQ led the decline with a loss near 3.0% while the S&P 500 and Dow Jones shed less than half that amount. The yield on the ten-year treasury jumped above 1.70% for the first time since January 2020 and it looks like it will go higher. This is bad news for high-growth names because it makes borrowing money to fund growth more expensive and could send the NASDAQ Composite tumbling.
The next big hurdle for the market will be next week with the release of key data points. Among them are the February reads of personal income, spending, and core inflation. If core inflation continues on its upward trajectory it could reinforce the idea of FOMC tightening and help drive the markets lower over the coming months
