Good MorningThe equities market was quiet on Tuesday following Monday’s big gains. The market is digesting the economic data ahead of the release of FOMC minutes on Wednesday. The data shows a marked uptick in economic activity that is led by the labor market and may lead to inflation. The FOMC minutes will be closely scrutinized for every nuance of detail the Fed gives on the inflation picture.
Data on Tuesday included the Job Openings And Labor Turnover report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics otherwise known as the JOLTs report. According to the report, the number of open jobs surged to 7.4 million in February and the highest level since well before the pandemic. The report is a strong albeit lagging indicator of labor market conditions and points to robust hiring conditions for the spring season.
